Posted on Doug HowieTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kate & her entire team did an incredible job with a challenging block. The entire team were friendly, approachable and great to work with - right down to 1 on 1 tutorials on how to maintain a garden. Also wanted to call out that through unforseen circumstances, we were left with a short turnaround and when we approached Kate, was reserved to the fact we were likely not going to meet that. Kate was amazing and was able to accomodate the timeframes and my wife and I are very appreciative of what Kate and her team were able to do. Cant recommend the team highly enoughPosted on Patrick MorganTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Huge thanks to Kate and her team for the amazing work on our garden. From start to finish the process was positive and collaborative. We felt part of the process and empowered to share ideas and suggestions (a nice change from a lot of trades we've interacted with over the years). They worked closely with us from the initial design right through to execution, and the end result is a beautiful native garden we absolutely love. Couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out.Posted on Gerard HynesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Living Senses do such amazing work. From the first contact to discuss what I was looking for, to the planning and execution of the garden, Kate listened and took the time to explain everything through. My new garden is absolutely beautiful and it was so nice to watch the vision come to life. Would highly recommend Kate and the team at Living Senses - they are incredible!!Posted on RodneyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If I could give more stars, I would. 7 out of 5 stars!! After reviewing a few landscapers in the area online, I decided to reach out to Living Senses because I loved their approach. Meeting Kate and discussing both my vision and hers for my garden confirmed that I made the right decision. During our first in-person meeting, Kate's landscaping design, plant knowledge, warmth, and friendly manner shone through. I was excited about what was in store for the garden! Everyone I met from Living Senses who worked in my back and front yard was exceedingly lovely and easy to work with. Nothing was too much trouble, and the care and love poured into the garden over nearly two weeks was a rare thing and very much appreciated. The design is exceptional, and it is a vision to admire, thanks to the Living Senses team. Even the site clean-up exceeded my expectations. My garden will now flourish, and I am one very happy owner. Thank you to the whole Living Senses team for my new garden. Rodney.Posted on Chris FeenaneTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Living Senses do such incredible work, I cannot recommend them enough. They've completely transformed our outdoor spaces from tired and boring, to a beautiful oasis. Kate and her team worked so efficiently and were all so friendly and communicative. We are so pleased with the results and can't wait to see our garden flourish in the years to come.Posted on Jessica HarrisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kate and her team have been so caring, consistent and encouraged us to dream and create a space that matches our families needs and ethos - whilst still fitting within our busy lives and available resources. I entered the process feeling I knew nothing about landscaping. Sure I know what feels right to me, and what functionality we wanted, but beyond that I had zero clue how to pull it together and make it all just feel right. Enter Kate and her team. They have an amazing way of helping you follow what feels right for you, and connect with it, and then carry you through the process to help us articulate this. The visual proposal was stunning. And the teams presentation played back everything we'd discussed - which was an impressive effort, cos we did discuss a lot. They took our families current and future requirements, and helped us turn our vibes and notions, into a fully laid out plan that really encapsulated who we are as individuals and also accounts for the collective needs of our family and little community. Honestly - I was so impressed. I have been so impressed with all members of the living senses team. And the collaboration approach is so wonderfully delivered, even my parter who is less wordy and feely than I - was expressing and enjoying the process - and that is cool to see. I would be more than happy to refer Kate and her team. They really hear you, and take the time to make sure you are empowered with knowledge to make your landscape right for you. Thanks team, Jess. P.S. Petes review "👍" - high praise indeed 😉Posted on Ed JessopTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Highly recommend the Living Senses Group. My new garden makes my heart sing! I would not hesitate in recommending Living Senses Group for all your landscaping needs. They are a well oiled team of specialists in their given fields of landscaping, hardscaping, excavation, design etc. Special mention to Kate, Troy, Dylan, Ben and Lucas for their tireless efforts on my exceptionally steep backyard, together with all the apprentice's who were very keen to learn and worked hard during a Melbourne winter. We had fun along the way and I enjoyed getting my hands dirty too. Nothing was too much trouble and all communication was open and receptive. I'm already receiving compliments from friends on how my garden looks, and they only finished yesterday! It's only going to get better and better for many years to come. A BIG thank you.Posted on Alicia SalvoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Just wow! Frequently Asked Questions About Garden Design
Many of our clients take a phased approach to create their garden. This may take place over a single year, or even several years depending on the size of the job and the time and funds available.
The important thing is to be clear on the garden design as a whole. Once this is in place, you will have a much better idea of which step of the build is best tackled first. Having a completed design also helps you to see what your build and planting costs will be, so that these can be broken down into sensible chunks.
P.S. A garden is always evolving… and that is the great joy of it too!
We can landscape your whole garden, including retaining walls, rockwork and fencing. We work together with local landscapers and earthworkers, with whom we have built strong relationships over the years. That way you get the best stoneworkers, carpenters and earth moving teams for your project.
As qualified horticulturists, our team at Living Senses takes care of soil preparation and planting. This ensures the plants have the best possible chance to survive and flourish.
Yes, of course! We have many clients who are tradies or garden-enthusiasts and love to get their hands dirty. We love sharing our knowledge and helping you grow. You will be extra proud when it’s all done!
We are happy to be as little or as much involved in the landscaping process as you want. The design can even be altered around the capacity of your skillset. Planting and mulching are just some of the DYI options available.
Once we have landscaped your garden, we can offer garden maintenance. Our design team works closely with the garden maintenance team so they prune the plants in ways how your garden was invisioned for the future.
The maintenance team is available for a minium of 4 hours and can be booked in on a regular or occasional basis, depending on your needs. For clients whose gardens we’ve designed and constructed, we can also provide regular check-ups and seasonal consults.
Any regular garden maintenance activities for garden we haven’t landscaped, we recommend contacting a local gardener. Depending on your area, we can recommend reliable businesses.
Gardens can be built at any time of the year in Victoria. Heavy rainfalls can slow down the process however, since rain and mud are landscaper’s worst enemies. Allow extra wait time if your project requires earthmoving machinery, especially in wet seasons.
Most planting is ideally done in the autumn, winter and early spring. This allows the plants and trees to establish before the main growing season in spring and summer. Cold winters and hot, dry summers should be avoided if possible.
Nowadays, many homeowners are looking for a low-maintenance garden that looks green and lush all year round. With the right plants and material choices we can certainly design and construct a garden like this for you. We have plenty of experience and suggestions to keep the maintenance requirements as little as possible.
Much like design fees, each project is individual. Costs depend on a number of factors such as design complexity, slope and size of the land, site access, soil conditions (e.g. rocky ground) etc.
If you want to make a cost estimate based on the size of your space you could use these benchmark rates to give you an idea. They are based on a level garden with easy access.
- Simple residential garden with some hardscapes, but majority of softscapes might be around $125 – $150 per m2.
- Higher quality residential garden with hardscapes and softscapes might be around $275 – $325 per m2.
- Very custom spaces with complex detailing generally goes up from this price level
To save money, you may want to undertake some, or all, of the construction yourself. We also promote re-using/ upcycling materials and retaining plants and trees as much as possible to save on costs and landfill. Throughout the process, we inform you on cost effective material and design choices and can show ways to save money by propagating plants.
We are aware, gardens can be expensive. But besides offering major health benefits, they add significant value to your home. According to real estate agents and landscaping experts, landscaping can add up 28% percent to the value of your home. On the flip side, if you neglect your garden, it can lower the value of your home between 5 and 15%.
